I'm gonna need some time to develop my thoughts on this one. I'm very glad I finally got around to watching this film by one of my top-five favorite directors, Stanley Kubrick. Overall, I think it insightfully captured what it means to desire sex, control, and comfort. A fascinating film that includes images of Christ, orgies, violence, government, politics, and scientific treatment. Iconic images that will certainly last forever. 4 out of 5 Netflix, 8 on a 10-scale. A Clockwork Orange

2024 90-Day Challenge

Here we go again... As a quick follow up to my last post, I did finish the 2023 90-Day read-through-the-Bible challenge, but it was sometime in August, not quite 90 days from January. Well, I decided to take on the challenge again for 2024. I started early, in December, to get a head start. I also decided to NOT use the Amplified version this year and instead decided to use ESV (English Standard Version). One other thing: I decided to read it using a chronological order. This means I’m reading how things would have happened chronologically in history. For example, books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles run simultaneously with Psalms, Proverbs, and prophets like Isaiah. At the time of writing this entry, I’m in Jeremiah 51. I think I’ve been in Jeremiah for a couple weeks. That’s my 2024 read-through-the-Bible challenge update.

2023: 90-Day Challenge - Day 5 - Exodus

01/05/23 – Day 5. Exodus 1-15. Israel (tribe/people) are numerous, Egyptians enslave them for generations. Moses is born, put in a basket down the Nile, Pharaoh’s daughter pulls him out, adopts him, but his own sister and mother raise him, when he’s a young man, he kills an Egyptian in secret – so he thought – but Hebrews knew about it – so Moses fled. Gets a wife, has kids. He saw a burning bush and God spoke to him telling him he would be the one to lead His People (Israel) out of slavery. 10 plagues. Passover. Pharaoh says, “No way!” He finally concedes. What I learned? 1) I knew that Pharaoh’s magicians were able to turn their staffs into snakes and that Aaron’s staff turned into a snake that ate the magician’s snakes, but I did not remember Pharaoh’s magicians contributing to the plague of frogs (Ex. 8:6-7). 2) Miriam the prophetess (sister of Aaron and Moses) played a timbrel, all the women followed her in playing and dancing (Ex. 15:20-21). 3) Nothing new I learned, bu...
